My first try at my own oil painting in Bob Ross's style done on heavy paper, not canvas.

The colors aren't very true from the photograph but it's close. I found out a lot with this first try at painting, mainly that I have a heavy and crooked hand; I don't think I could paint a straight landscape if my life depended on it. ;p

Also, I have the bare minimum for painting, which is simply paints and brushes. No palette, no easel, and that makes things much harder than I thought they would be. An easel is paramount for painting, as I found out, and my hand would probably straighten out on its own if I had one. I'm not too concerned about a palette, I made a makeshift one out of some vellum and cardboard, it seemed to work pretty well but I wouldn't mind have that huge palette Bob uses. ;)

I am very thankful that I earned enough money through commissions to buy these paints and tools, I shall practice diligently. ^_^

Oh, Jasmo, it's beautiful! You really need to do more traditional painting along with your sketches. :D This would so go with my current apartment decor and color scheme. :)

The curve makes it look more real. A lot like the lakes around here. Very beautiful. Oil's are very fun to work with. My mother, and her mother and I bought these painting kits that are portable easel's with everything in a drawer included, oils acrylics and watercolors. The easel is very handy indeed. I don't remember where we got them from, or I'd recommend you to it. But if you do get the chance for one, definitely invest.
And keep at it, you're doing wonderfully so far :D That is a very beautiful painting.
